This includes intake, assessment, and evaluation of applicants who are applying for Iowa's GAP Tuition Assistance program, a specialized funding source that provides financial assistance to eligible applicants for non-credit programs (programs that are not eligible for federal financial aid) and focus on high demand careers with a particular focus on healthcare, manufacturing, and advanced technologies. We use a comprehensive approach to providing guidance and support services to help ensure that students receiving PACE support are successful in completing their program of choice and preparing to enter or re-enter the workforce upon completion. I supervise two pathway navigators and a budget of $200,000 in the PACE program. In addition, I supervise administration of the GAP tuition assistance program has a budget of $85,000 annually. Successful provision of support to students involves coordination with internal and external partners (Iowa Workforce Development, WIOA, Enrollment Services, Continuing Education, Community Action of Southeast Iowa, Department of Human Services).

Pathways For Academic Career And Employment (Pace) Program Lead Navigator (Director-Level Position)

Pathways for Academic, Career and Employment (PACE) is a student support services program funded by the Iowa Legislature through the Iowa Department of Education. PACE is an economic development strategy in which public funds are utilized to implement programs to target specific populations in order to connect individuals with ongoing advising, counseling, and guidance through the educational process in order to help individuals acquire skills necessary to secure employment. The goal of PACE is to provide support to streamline service delivery by which an individual can complete a secondary education (High School equivalency), pursue post-secondary educational opportunities, and become employed in a high demand field. PACE is available at all 15 community colleges in Iowa and has the flexibility to provide a range of services to eligible participants. At Southeastern Community College, we use a student-centered approach to pathway navigation. Working directly with a pathway navigator for their chosen pathway field, a student can expect to receive personal advice, guidance, and supporton completing requirements, such as who to contact in admissions, how to complete a FAFSA, who to talk to about receiving academic support outside of the classroom, and other general steps, necessary to successfully completing an academic program and becoming employed.
