Reporting directly to the VP of Power, responsible for seeking out and evaluating power development opportunities as a potential new business line. Delivered value creation, alignment with strategic goals, and environmental sustainability.

Led the electrical engineering team for Cenovus oil sands. Group mandate included electrical safety, regulatory compliance (AESO ARS, and EQMP), technical support, system planning, operations systems support, and real time operations and maintenance support. Accountable for setting and reporting on KPI’s for electrical system performance and regulatory compliance.

Leading a diverse group of electric engineers and techs to support all of Cenovus' electrical utility assets at their two major oil sands facilities (Foster Creek and Christina Lake). This included system planning, design oversight, specifications and standards, regulatory compliance, operations and maintenance support and safety. In addition to internal accountabilities, the team was also accountable for AESO compliance and stakeholder relations with Fortis, ATCO and Altalink.

Group Lead of the electrical engineering group within the Operational Engineering team for Foster Creek. Introduced distribution system planning, internal design oversight, and provided operations support. Team scope included all electrical systems ranging from 24-144kV. Accountable for on-sight generation loading, 25kV distribution and 144kV substation.

Worked in the shared service team supporting all of Cenovus. Key focus was Foster Creek. Projects included development of corporate electrical safety program, co-gen blackstart system, substation expansion for FC.

Field based position and member of the Construction Management Team providing electrical engineering support for the construction of a 40,000 bbl/d expansion at Foster Creek.

As a journeyman electrician I gained valuable experience with maintenance and construction. Working first-hand on projects provided a solid foundation for my career focused on power and electrical systems.
