Supervise performance of substation construction and maintenance. This includes trenching, installing conduit, pulling cable, wiring of outdoor electrical equipment, installing ground grids, installing foundations, setting steel structures, installing buswork and conductors, welding aluminum buswork, setting and adjusting air switches, installing circuit breakers, and setting main power transformers.Operate aerial lifts, forklifts, skidsteers, backhoes, excavators, boom trucks, and other equipment used in the construction of electrical substations. Must know and understand state and local laws, DOT, and OSHA standardsPerform services in a safe and timely manner. Must be able to understand and complete required paperwork and documentation of the services. Communicates with customers, property owners, general public, other contractors, utility representatives, and government agencies.Maintain and track crew working hours and production. Will be responsible for submitting billing to customer on a weekly basis.Coordinate necessary outages with clients.Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

The Substation Foreman is responsible for the supervision, assignment and coordination of the Substation Construction and Maintenance activities to ensure a productive workforce that supports all divisional, departmental, site and corporate goals while in accordance with all company policies and local, state, and federal regulations. The Substation Foreman will direct the work and provide technical assistance to subordinates assigned to assist him/her and craft employees working under lump sum and fixed unit price contracts. responsible for identifying, properly tracking and reporting of completed job units to the Project Manager or General Foreman. The Substation Foreman will participate in job estimation, and will be expected to attend pre-bid meetings and to conduct client pre-construction meetings. The Substation Foreman will be responsible for the safety and work quality of his crew. This is a working Foreman position and it may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands. Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Subtech’s, Groundman and Apprentices performing maintenance and construction activities on substation projects. Assists with groundwork and clears work area and maintains safe jobsite conditions. Assists with assembling material on the ground and installs conduit and cable in ditches and hardware from aerial devices. Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification. Operates motorized equipment and uses hand tools to perform routine maintenance on electrical equipment, machinery, and tools. Works at varying heights above ground with proper Personal Protective Equipment. Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, saws, jack hammer and power tamp etc.). Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed. Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies. Works around hazardous and near energized parts or equipment. Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, saws, and other equipment with proper hearing protection. All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.
