As a middle school math teacher I focus on 6th grade on level and advanced mathematics. I have participated in a special PLC hosted by Learning Forward focused on improving our teaching practices through curriculum development and coaching. Our PLC has had opportunities to work with multiple different schools and districts as well as the staff at Learning Forward and The Carnegie Corporation. Using the coaching supports and professional developments we have worked to improve test scores and data, managing to overshoot our projected goal in less than 1 full school. Highlight data was taking data from about 85% of students not meeting the district measure on an EOL during MP2 to completely reversing that with 85% meeting district measure on the MP3 EOL. Our work will be continuing into the following school year as well!

Planned and prepared all summer school related duties for Fields Road ES for the Summer of 2023. This included identifying students with attendance priority based on data. Family outreach and enrollment, classroom organization, scheduling and more required planning. Then supported teacher setup before handing lead off to an alternative staff member to act as the “principal” during the actual summer term.

After working as a Focus Teacher at Fields Road ES the role was switching to a purely Reading based role, as a Math Specialist I chose to switch to a classroom position to allow myself to still teach Math.

Was a summer school teacher for two summers. Taught 5th grade first then 3rd grade.

Was the Math Focus Teacher at Fields Road. Responsibilities including teaching 4th and 5th grade Compacted Math classes. Then in the Academic Intervention Role I was responsible for a variety of Math interventions in 2nd, 4th and 5th grade as well as 3rd grade enrichment, using both curriculum and self created resources. I was also responsible for Reading interventions in 4th and 5th grade using RGR program in both small and large group formats, as well as supporting teachers in assessing reading levels and helping create and decide appropriate reading groups/levels and interventions or enrichments for 4th and 5th grade teachers to implement outside of ones I provided. Worked with Primary Math Department head at Central to work on adjusted version of Compacted curriculum due to testing interference impacting my teaching schedule for those course.

Started when the company was formerly HotSpots. Started as a teacher and was promoted to Lead teacher in my final year. Was responsible for teaching lessons and caring for kids from K-5 before and afterschool hours. As a lead teacher I took on additional responsibilities for training new teachers and aides, taking on role of acting Assistant director when either AD or Program director was absent. Took part of Director meetings surrounding curriculum and planning when Directors were unavailable. Used as a floater at multiple locations when they were short staffed. Even worked, help develop and improve their first summer camp year. Was on track for higher leadership until COVID shut programs down. Graduated and moved before programs resumed.
