When I am not out marketing, you can find me find me at our Harrisburg store, located in Camp Hill, conducting warehousing activities such as checking in deliveries, operating forklifts, pallet jacks and power jacks or helping to organize and adjust inventory. Additional time spent there always involves consistently closing sales and assisting customers.

At First Priority Home and Property Renewal LLC, we provided foreclosure companies, banks, REO agents and property management firms an opportunity to quickly restore properties of less than favorable condition to ensure their marketability and saleability (in accordance with HUD guidelines) within a short amount of time. Daily duties would range from anything to posting Personal Property Notices and changing locks to removing all said personal property, boarding windows, lawn maintenance, etc. We always delivered professionalism, quick turn around times and positive energy in our daily work environment while meeting even the most difficult of our client’s demands.

While I was working towards my Associate Degree at H.A.C.C., I needed work that offered both flexible hours and quick pay. The plan was to work here for a year until I transferred out to Appalachian State University. Sometimes, a plan is a list of things that do not happen. I will never deny that I enjoyed being employed here which explains my lengthy span at the West Shore Plaza Family Restaurant. I absolutely loved being a server. I liked the hustle and bustle, the meeting of new people, how fast your work day zips by and of course, the cash in your hand at the end of a shift. For a time, I was the front end manager in the evenings following serving shifts in the morning. In that amount of time, I learned a great many things but probably the most important being that the restaurant business is not for the faint of heart and much more complicated than many think.

Here, I worked as a marketing representative in the video gaming department. Responsibilities included contacting, acquiring and retaining clients through providing excellent customer service. While this position involved mostly B2B sales convincing accounts to choose D and H Distributing as their "middle man" for acquiring product, I learned a great deal about shipping, freight, logistics and technological products in a quickly growing industry. I improved my abilities in response time regarding the completion of tasks, organization, multitasking, establishing rapport with individuals and marketing both specific products and myself as a representative for my accounts.

While I was employed at Byerly, I was acquired by Seer Insurance Inspections to perform insurance inspections as an independent contractor. Responsibilities involved conducting field inspections using underwriting guidelines for both commercial and residential properties. COPE (construction, occupancy, protection, exposure) became a starting point for every property visited but of course, many other components had to be considered as well. Corrective measures were suggested when risks were encountered on said properties and communication of these risks was forwarded to the underwriter when appropriate.

I took this position immediately out of the college and quickly became keenly aware of how truly difficult commercial insurance sales can be. Nonetheless, I focused on acquiring new clients to the company and servicing current accounts using my insurance knowledge and safety background. I improved skills in sales, customer relationships and time management. Also, I developed an increased knowledge in the insurance industry as a whole. Sadly, I didn't even last a year there and jumped ship after only a few months. I often wonder if I would be more successful now put in the exact same position or if I would walk away sooner. All in all, I am grateful for the experience and it was a fantastic way to learn that career as a Commercial Lines Insurance Producer was not to be my bailiwick.
