In this course I created activities for these students to do within the classroom that would help guide them in knowledge of how to succeed in other classes. Some assignments included hands on activities that gave students opportunities to collaborate in groups, as well as the opportunity to present their final product in front of the class. Show less

In this position I co-taught a Freshman ESOL Course on writing composition. In this position, I taught students how to write a five paragraph persuasive essay using concept maps. We began this by reviewing with them the different parts of speech, as well as the different types of sentences from run-ons, to compound sentences, and even fragmented sentences. Students began becoming familiar with the writing process. Each week we spent some time working on a different paragraph. One week we spent working on the introduction, another we spent working on the conclusion, in the weeks after the students continued by focusing on the body of the work. This was my first position in the field of Education. Within this position, I monitored halls to make sure students were making it to their classes and building rapport with them to motivate them to stay in their classes.
