About Jared Applegate
Over the past decade, I've led various strategic functions including business development, legal operations, pricing, practice management, and project management. I have a deep understanding of strategic planning for growth and hands-on knowledge of our major business functions, ensuring seamless delivery of legal services for our clients and lawyers.I now serve as the firm’s Chief Legal Operations Officer. In this role, I oversee and lead a team of 40+ revenue-enablement professionals in: rates, pricing, practice management, legal project management (LPM), the managing clerk’s office (MCO), and other strategic functions across the firm for the more than 800 attorneys and legal professionals who call Barnes & Thornburg home. Additionally, I have had the privilege of working directly with our largest clients to help solve their business problems by advising on structuring, assessing and implementing change as it relates to their Legal Department operations, creating predictability and transparency with their outside counsel. This work has been my most fulfilling and rewarding of my career.Our work in the space of legal operations (branded BTValueWorks) has been recognized by: Forbes, Bloomberg, The American Lawyer, Law.com, The National Law Journal, New York Law Journal, Corporate Counsel Business Journal and various other industry publications. In 2021, our Legal Operations team was recognized as the nation’s Best Business Team in the AmLaw by the American Lawyer TALIA awards.
