Office Of The Dean Of Engineering

I worked with Dean Keith Buffinton and the rest of the Dean's Office in the College of Engineering to improve the experience of Bucknell's predominately undergraduate body through creation of programs, research in unexplored educational opportunities. The program involves weekly meetings with the Dean and other members of the College of Engineering. The executive intern has the opportunity to work with Bucknell's administration, other interns and departments across campus collaboratively, and participate in fundraising and other major events occurring at Bucknell and nationwide. As an intern, I worked to strengthen and improve the relationship between Geisinger Medical System and Bucknell University. I also helped organize the TEAMS Competition, where 100 high school students interested in engineering participate in competitons, tours, and lectures at Bucknell.

Worked in the Fornwalt Lab at Geisinger Clinic to research the efficacy of various cardiac imaging methods. Subjects analyzed include humans with congenital heart disease, humans that are considered obese, obese mice, and their respective controls. Understanding the effects of both obesity and congenital heart defects on cardiac mechanics is integral to understanding the causes of the patient's possible mortality. Analysis was accomplished by using advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to non-invasively assess cardiovascular mechanics in the subjects.
