FS-01 - JLI - The Treaty Law Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade is part of the Department's Legal Affairs Bureau. The Treaty Law Division is headed by a Foreign Service Officer with legal training and experience.Foreign Service Officers in the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service represent the foreign policy interests of Canada in countries and multilateral organizations across the globe. Through bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, advocacy, and the negotiation and implementation of international agreements, diplomats engage and influence international players to advance Canadian interests and values. They enhance social and cultural ties and promote international security and democratic development in support of global stability.

EC-06 Indigenous Border Crossing Division - Admissibility branch. Work on Indigenous border mobility file, consultation with Indigenous communities, drafting policy documents and briefing material for Minister, DMs and senior management in preparation for a Memorandum to Cabinet.

EC-03 Work in The International Trade Branch’s Negotiations and Investments team of Canadian Heritage, advancing Canada’s creative sector and copyright interests in international trade agreements (e.g., the Canada—United States—Mexico Agreement and MERCOSUR) and the World Intellectual Property Organization. The team leads multilateral and bilateral discussions regarding copyright-related issues and Indigenous traditional and cultural expressions. The team is also responsible for administering the Investment Canada Act at PCH by reviewing and monitoring foreign investments in Canada’s cultural sector to ensure net benefit to Canada.
