Being a Washington County Veterans Service Commissioner allows me to advocate for Veterans outside of my daily career. As a Veterans Service Commissioner, I serve as the appointed representative for the Veterans of Foreign Wars on the board of the Washington County Veterans Service Commissioners that is in charge the oversite, command and control of the office. Responsible for but not limited to the following:• Policies and procedures are developed under the guidelines of ORC 5901• The budget of the WCVSC• Developing and implementing Veterans programs• Charged with the creation, correction, or addendum of office policies and procedures• Coordinating or facilitating community outreach to our Washington County Veterans• Great customer service is provided to the Veterans that enter our office• Training of staff of local policies, procedures, and shared services• Accountability on monies expended by the WCVSC• Morale, welfare, training, and professionalism of the WCVSC staff

Personnel Actions and Processing

Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialists provide intensive services to meet the employment needs of disabled Veterans and other eligible Veterans, with the maximum emphasis directed toward serving those who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, including homeless Veterans, and Veterans with significant barriers to employment.• Provide case management services to Veterans referred to DVOP• Conduct thorough assessments to identify all barriers to employment• Develop an individual employability development plan to game plan and map a path to employment unique to each Veteran served• Complete referrals to community and Veterans programs to help the Veteran overcome or isolate identified barriers• Assist Veterans with resumes, cover letters, interviewing techniques, application skills, and job searching• Assist in facilitating placement of employment opportunities for Veterans through job development contacts• Conduct meaningful community outreach designed to bring knowledge and education of the OhioMeansJobs Centers and network with other programs for referral opportunities to assist with overcoming Veterans barriers to employment• Use of computer, Microsoft software of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher used in daily operations and reporting• Use of multiple websites, intraweb, state databases, and software for researching, investigating, and reporting

Staff Sergeant of the United State Army Reserves serving as a Military Policeman in the 391st MP BN and the 342nd MP Co. Responsible for the overall health, morale, and welfare of the Soldiers under my care. Developed civilian and military professional development programs to assist Soldiers in their transition from deployments to civilian lives. During nondeployment time frames, ensured wartime and deployment readiness of the platoon or squad depending on the position held at the time. Trained and mentored a variety of Military Police and Soldier tasks for the 300th MP Brigades Military Police Warfighters before their annual competition. Also acted as the Family Readiness Liaison for the 391st MP BN. Started work for Ohio Department of Youth Services at Mohican Juvenile Corrections Facility, after three years of employment, I had the opportunity for additional off site training and became a certified Therapeutic Community Specialist. Located here was the departments only Therapeutic Community (TC). One of two staff responsible for the direct care, custody, and control of 42 youth in an open bay setting, charged with mentoring youth during their last 6-12 months in DYS, to right living, and becoming a productive member of their community. Upon the closure of MoJCF, I was displaced to Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility (IRJCF) in Massillon, Ohio to a 40 closed cell dorm, medium-close security classified facility. Both facilities were accredited by the American Correctional Association and offer a multitude of programs. • Department of Youth Services Instructor for CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Responder. • Assessed, coached, and mentored youth daily as a Juvenile Corrections Officer• Participated in treatment teams to help identify better individual goals and solutions for Youth• Used a working assessment to develop treatment plans for at risk, mental health, sex offender, and other behavioral concerned youth• Conducted fact finding and compiled data of assaults, processing of daily paperwork, writing incident, and emergency reports• Encourage youth to stay in school, help youth look at future goals of work, college, and their own home, while mentoring the youth into programs available to them at the facility and upon their release• Extensive experience working with individuals with physical and mental disabilities• Developed activities and reward programs for individual dorm

Maintained and exceeded store security and safety standards. Including visual, video, team surveillance, placement of security systems, and training of new staff. Tracked trends of store inventory and shrinkage, responsible for statement of asset protection and safety at staff meetings. Used company data systems to track and get leads on possible internal theft, and high return volumes from customers. Ability to run custom reports to find oddities and suspicious activities. On duty during the Eastern Seaboard power outage of 2003. Devised an immediate plan of action and implemented the plan throughout the store, to safely get customers to their perspective parking lots, without incident or theft. I was recognized by the district and store management teams for quick action and a thorough plan of action.
