Installs include: small and large residential roof and ground-mounted arrays, off-grid boat houses, solar module awnings and patio coverings, and mobile units (trailers, trucks, vans, buses, etc.)

Orange Design/Build is a small commercial and residential general contractor operating in Portland, Oregon. Orange's projects are diverse in nature, ranging from medium scale commercial TI's to vintage home remodels. The Orange team specializes in solving unique design challenges in a creative, yet cost competitive way. My main two roles at Orange include project budgeting/contracts and MEP design. On the commercial projects where Orange is hired to lead design, I develop the initial analysis of the building's existing MEP capacities, then coordinate the design of any necessary upgrades. This includes all HVAC, plumbing, gas, and electrical work. The commercial electrical system's often involve 3-phase utility connections. Project budgeting includes overseeing several aspects of each project's financial situation. In early design I help develop broad budgeting to guide client decisions. Once the scope of work is mature, I oversee contract creation, including pricing and language. During the course of a construction I monitor expenditures vs contract and oversee the negotiation of change orders.

OIT's Renewable Power Engineering program is the first of its kind in the United States. The ABET accredited program is a four year course of study covering a broad range of electrical, mechanical, and chemical engineering problems as they pertain to the generation, distribution, and storage of energy. Although the core curriculum is focused on traditional power engineering techniques, the OIT program views these challenges through the lens of renewable and alternative options to coal, oil, and gas.
