Promoted to Plant Manager to lead the manufacturing efforts and utilize lean/six sigma skills developed in my role as Supply Chain Manager. The plant operated 24/7 and consisted of plastic blow molding machines; metal stamping, forming and welding; all associated maintenance for machinery and automation. This facility produced 14-16 million portable fuel containers with a maximum capacity of 24 million containers of various sizes.• Focused on reduction of downtime associated with blow molding machines. This project consisted of adding monitoring equipment to each machine, providing further information on variables leading to downtime. This data was transmitted to a database where we developed control limits for each critical process during the machines production cycle. This data was used to alert the proper machine technician when a machine was running outside of the upper/lower control limits. Reports were generated each day to allow management to review critical process changes made by production or maintenance personnel.• Continued to drive improvements for quality and safety by using the data provided from the monitoring system. This also allowed the organization to reduce the amount of defective product and therefore rework. • Developed a system to allow for like base products to be finished at the time of shipment. The plant produced the same base product, but then packaged/labeled it differently for customers. The idea was to reduce inventory by eliminating the need to keep multiple sku #’s but also promoting just in time shipments without negatively affecting lead-times to our customers.
