Mechanical Design Engineer Ii
- E-house structural and systems design in compliance with AISC, IBC and other appliable codes and regulations. Design Engineer
Responsibilities include product management, design, research and development with a focus on the mobile product lines, specifically the Wireless Communication units. With all aspects of the manufacturing process done in-house, I work directly with production, both the fabrication and assembly team to ensure fit and finish of all products. This allows me to constantly observe and note the manufacturability and functionality of new/old products.Projects:SPOT - (Satellite Picocell on Trailer) I developed R3.0. The latest generation of the mobile communications trailer was designed to make the unit as user friendly as possible incorporating customer input into the new features/updates and addressing manufacturing inefficiencies identified by the Pelsue team.STEER - a mobile backhaul source used in disaster response. When connected to a cell tower, the STEER allows a community of users to once again have cellular service. I was responsible for initial product development and 2nd generation refinements that were implemented in the second model year.Mini-COW- a new, lighter weight alternative to the heavy-duty, steel-framed Cell on Wheels. I was responsible for product design and development, including initial assembly. The Pelsue version features an all aluminum frame with a fiberglass shell. This light weight unit has the same functionalities as it’s larger counter-part, while the fiberglass body gives the user a sealed work space.Truck Insert- I developed an all electric power package as an alternative to a generator powered unit. Utilizing a battery bank/inverter system the user has the power needed for an 8 hour day in a quiet, vibration free work space. The battery bank is tied into the truck alternator to provide charge during commutes from job site to site, giving additional run time. Once the batteries are fully discharged, simply plug the unit into shore power, before the next morning the Splicing Lab will be ready for another work day.
Field Services Engineer
As a Field Engineer we were responsible for maintaining all 3 & 5 axis machines DMS produces. Whether that be by phone support or on-site calibration/alignments we kept customers in a wide variety of industries cutting accurate and reliable parts. We also were tasked with installing all new machines and providing customer training on the operation of their machine.
Drafter
One of my main responsibilities was the 3D-CAD modeling of new parts. I was also given the task of designing and drafting new product models for production. I regularly continued to draft and revise existing products per requirements.
