Growing up, I remember being two things - a dreamer, and a mistake maker. I'd often get lost in my thoughts of playing in the NHL and MLB, all while being a fighter jet pilot and driving a Ferrari. As I continued to grow up, my big dreams started to become more realistic, but that didn’t stop me from spending too much time dreaming, which lead to many mistakes along the way. I was fortunate enough to have incredible people around me who supported me no matter the mistake. They shared their knowledge, provided direction, and most importantly, they helped me understand that making a mistake is an opportunity to learn. I didnt know it at the time, but I was experiencing some of the core values of leadership - empathy, inspiration, motivation, direction and coaching. Slowly but surely, my mistakes became fewer, and when they did happen, I had to rely on others less frequently. I began learning from my mistakes on my own and understanding how I could use my “dreamer” mindset to accomplish anything I put my mind to. Today, I work for Bell and am part of their award winning, Graduate Leadership Program. I recognize that I wouldn't be where I am today without those who supported me along the way, and I've experienced first hand the difference strong leadership can make. This is why every morning I wake up excited to find ways I can make a difference in my work, support and inspire others to be succesful, and continue working towards my big dreams and visions.
