SolarMelts develops solar-activated products to combat harsh winter weather and reduce the usage of harmful chloride salts on roadways, bridges, & airports. Our unique solar-heated carbon coatings can reduce the amount of chlorides used in most granular or de-icing products by up to 30% and can even be used on farms. By using solar-heated materials we hope to develop products that are innovative, environmentally friendly, and sustainable that can still meet the urgent challenges of managing harsh winter conditions for our roads and farms.

My research in the Menon Group investigates the nonlinear properties of 2 Dimensional Meta-Materials (2DMM). I look for ways to use 2DMM as building blocks to make new materials with enhanced optical properties for future opto-electronic and quantum computing applications.

• Investigated the activation, enhancement, modification of complex nanoantenna modes and their spectral transitions using cathodoluminescence spectroscopy.• Designed an active plasmonic circuit capable of electrically exciting and radiating surface plasmons. The resonant emission is voltage tunable with dependence on the device material and surface coupling.• Fabricated high scattering nanoparticles to excite electromagnetic on the surface of plasmonic metallic waveguides via near-field coupling.• Investigated coupled waveguide system using molecular lithography to create sub-10 nm lithographic gaps between plasmonic waveguides.

• Conducted proton irradiation research experiments to measure chips’ degradation proclivity to known failure mechanisms caused by different sources of radiation.• Yield / Failure-Analysis Engineer for Power4, 5, & 6 IBM Unix Server microprocessors. Analyzed wafer parametric logic errors causing customer and manufacturing system failures and wrote micro-architectural programs (ASM for PowerPC) to target physically weak areas of the Power chips for the manufacturing screen process.
