In September 2014, while rock climbing in Sicily, I fell forty-sixty feet to the ground, and almost died. I have since recovered at Walter Reed. Injuries sustained:-Grade 5 Liver Laceration-Moderate Traumatic Brain Injury + Loss of Consciousness-6th and 7th Rib fractures-Left Lower Extremity: Comminuted femur fracture-Right Lower Extremity: Comminuted Tib-Fib fracture-Left Upper Extremity: Wrist dislocation with fractures to the distal radius, lunate, and triquetrum-Right Upper Extremity: 5th metacarpal fracture pinned

"On April 12, 2017, the Military Health System launched the Pentagon Patriotic Art Program: Wounded Warrior Healing Arts Exhibit which featured 40 dynamic images of artwork created by individuals across the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s National Intrepid Center of Excellence. The year-long exhibit celebrated and honored the wounded, ill, and injured Service members and Veterans who have leveraged the power of healing arts to inspire their recovery, rehabilitation, reintegration or transition to civilian life."

Naval Hospital Sigonella, Sicily, Italy

• Lead photographer for over 50 official command functions, designed/edited/published monthly newsletters and related public relations’ content, created/maintained website for Naval Hospital Sigonella’s Intranet, and monitored/updated social media.• Served as Sharepoint Administrator: responsible for reports, permissions, usage/activity, Network Load Balancing, alert notifications, and performing checks for OS/SQL patches.• Following an intensive orientation, selected as Team Leader for Multi-Service Ward: directed peers to provide effective, safe and family-centered care for over 150 ambulatory procedures, 100 venipunctures/IV insertions to enrolled beneficiaries, NATO and transient DoD forces.• Completed Navy Fitness Leadership Course, Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling System (NOFFS) Instructor Course, led 10 directorate physical fitness sessions, and dedicated over 40 hours to the Fitness Enhancement Program to improve physical readiness for six sailors.

Afghanistan

I volunteered for a 13 month deployment in Afghanistan to strengthen my experience working in a joint military and civilian environment. I deployed with Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Uruzgan. PRT Uruzgan is a multi-national civilian-military organization designed to improve stability in a given area by helping build the host nation’s capacity; reinforcing the host nation’s legitimacy and effectiveness; and bolstering the host nation's ability to provide security to its citizens and deliver essential government services. I worked directly with the US State Department, United States Agency for International Development, United States Department of Agriculture, Australian Agency for International Development, Australian Civilian Corps, and Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.• Operated independently of medical supervision, providing medical coverage for over 150 mounted and dismounted combat patrols. Provided routine and combat medical care to 140 joint service personnel assigned to PRT Uruzgan. Frequently provided emergency medical care to Afghan civilians, ANA, and ANP injured by Improvised Explosive Devices• Photographed 200+ missions, including mounted/dismounted combat patrols and Key Leader Engagements (KLE)• Designed, edited, and published monthly newsletters and related public relations content. Developed accurate campaigns for social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to promote positive rapport with larger community while encouraging enlistment. Singlehandedly ran the entire Public Affairs “team.”• Developed Base Standard Operating Procedures for Controlled Medications, set primary/secondary Helicopter Landing Zones during Convoy Operations, and designated Casualty Collection Points on FOB• Provided Tactical Combat Casualty Care training, and taught procedures for use of aid and litter for convoy operations to over 1,200 personnel• Completed Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare qualification
