I was running all DevOps at Bonobos, i was brought on at the beginning of a rewrite and redesign. Pretty much getting to build the infrastructure from scratch. Configuration of the infrastructure on AWS, alerting tools, chef, and several tools I have authored the entire production environment was self healing to a point where on call after hours alerting was down to being so infrequent that Myself and others forgot that it could happen. Using tools such as chef, Jenkins and well create bootstrap scripts I was able to spin up a brand new production environment of dozens of servers in less than 7 minutes. And operational only a couple minutes after that. Maintained a tested DR procedure that would fail over to a different region if cause was needed. One piece was a streaming S3 replication of a master PostgreSQL server to a backup Master slave database system in a different region.Developed several tools that made engineers and others self sufficient at maintaining their personal development environments without prior knowledge of any underlying system technology. I was one of the final steps in troubleshooting with the engineers and other lanes in the technology department. I worked with Data Science, IT, marketing, E-Com, Engineering, Product and consultants. I have been more than just a “DevOps” engineer for many of my peers. I was available to help maintain and review code and technologies in several different languages and infrastructures; ranging from ruby to python and from AWS to heroku and to hardware servers. Migrate from Opscode Hosted chef to managed chef on AWS. The switchover took less than 10 minutes for all of the hundreds of nodes to switch from Opscode to Managed. Overhaul all infrastructure to bring systems and security up to best practices and standards. Use Chef to manage a multi environment, multi region, multi availability zone application stack. Setup and/or Create internal tools for all different teams and departments of bonobos.

At SecondMarket, Some of my responsibilities include:• Sole Operations Manager at an Agile Scrum based Java/Scala and Ruby on Rails shop.o Using services such as Chef Server, Knife, Git, and Jenkins to provision, deploy, build and maintain multiple enterprise architectures and Java applications.o Developed a custom mixture of services such as Gerrit, Rubber/Capistrano, and Jenkins to provision, deploy, and maintain an enterprise ruby on rails application environment specific to the needs of the Business and Engineering teams.• Developed, maintained and upgraded dozens of custom Chef cookbooks, recipes andRubber/Capistrano configuration files. Develop Jenkins plans to make restoring, deploying, and swapping solutions efficient and simple. • DBA type duties dealing with large datasets/workloads in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Couchbase, and SOLR.o Develop Backup, Disaster recovery, Cross-site replication (In house to AWS cloud), management scripts and automation tasks in Jenkins.• Work with various aspects of the entire company to troubleshoot and remedy complex issues.
