TravelCascadeo Sep 2005 - Jan 2008Mercer Island, Washington, UsI met a couple on a dive trip in the rural Philippines who were working remotely via satellite and instantly knew that I had to do the same. After my time working in the independent ISP industry, I bought an Inmarsat BGAN satellite terminal and a backpack, traveled as much as possible, and started Cascadeo along the way. For the first few years of Cascadeo's existence, I was a full-time digital nomad and the company operated entirely remotely. Eventually we built our offices in Manila and Seattle, but my personal passion for world travel and the absolute joy of being able to work from remote places has never waned. I continue to travel abroad as much as I can, and almost never stop working when I do. In fact, I find that some of the best work of my career has been done when I am out of my usual environment and surrounded by different people, culture, sounds, smells, flavors, and environments. Very few things inspire me more than exploring the world. I love it. -
