Born an entrepreneur, I started my first business while in law school and upon graduation turned to help other entrepreneurs as I practiced startup law. As an attorney, I helped startups with their foundation, raising money, and ultimately the sell their companies. From 2008-2013, I was immersed in the Utah Entrepreneur Ecosystem acting as attorney and advisor to the best programs offered in the state: LaunchUp (trustee), BoomStartup, the UofU Foundry, the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge, and the Entrepreneur Lecture Series at USU, UofU, UVU and BYU.The entrepreneur bug got the best of me when in 2013 I left the practice of law to join the co-founder of my first business in growing a spinout of our first company - Jamberry Nails. As Chief Performance Officer of this direct-sales startup, we grew the startup from around $9 Million in revenues to over $220 Million in just a few short years and sold a portion of our company to private equity. Direct selling is an amazing ecosystem with incredible people - and part of the solution when it comes to domestic violence issues. Having identified this benefit of the industry, in 2017 my wife and I launched the Fight Against Domestic Violence, a 501(c)(3) charity that helps facilitate resources for domestic violence organizations across the U.S. and Canada and runs awareness and education programs.
