I am currently a Design Team Leader at the Greenville, SC, based firm, DP3 Architects. My responsibilities include project coordination, architectural design (test-fits, 3D modeling, renderings, & schematic design through to construction documents), code research, and construction administration. I am extremely lucky to be working at a great firm where my skills and talents are recognized and utilized. I look forward to growing at the firm through my hard work, commitment to good design, and dedication to our clients. I enjoyed my 7 years at Redline Design Group in Charlotte, NC. They gave me such a great opportunity with a breadth of experience along the way. I'll forever be grateful to the wonderful people there and for the partners for taking a chance on me coming out of college.I was formerly the Midwest Quad Director on the national board of directors for the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) where I served 13 states, 40 chapters, and spoke for the ideas and voice of over 6,000 AIAS members but more over, for all architecture students. I was also the Kansas State AIAS Chapter President and the Conference Chair who organized a regional conference in Kansas City, MO in November 2008 for over 300 architecture students. They gathered to network, learn, and discuss current issues in our profession and experience a city with great design.I also worked on two different Kansas State University Design+Build project teams where I played a variety of roles from project manager, builder, designer, fundraising manager, and accountant.I lived and studied abroad in Orvieto, Italy, for four months. I traveled all across Italy, spent time in the wonderful city of Barcelona, Spain, and also experienced historic London, England and the many things those great cities have to offer. Experiencing those different cultures and places definitely changed my perspective on life and the built world we all live in.As a designer I try to hone my abilities by practicing, researching, and exploring new things. Woodworking is also a way that helps me refine my attention to detail and design and a passion that I thoroughly enjoy. Architects used to be master builders, and as a craftsman I strive to do my best to learn as much as I can in homage to the origins of my chosen profession and I find joy in doing so in many ways.I am also an advocate for the issues which I am most passionate about and for which may be most difficult at times to stand up for.
