After Paperspace's successful exit and winding down Pineapple AF, I took a career break and invested in myself. Traveled to Japan & Argentina. Spoke Japanese & Spanish. Hiked Patagonia. Danced Tango. Visited hot springs & onsen. Ate katsu-karee and alfajores. Spent quality time with friends new & old. Nourished my soul. Readied myself for my next career move.

Built & brought to market Pineapple, a social async video app to discover & build like-hearted community, like Reddit-meets-TikTok. Acquired users by producing viral social media & mental health community events in NYC, the big pineapple. 🍍🗽Founded Pineapple AF in mid-2020 after making a pineapple pilgrimage to Hawai'i with a brother-in-pineapple. Jared helped fulfill his friend's dream to do a restaurant pop-up by producing a series of pineapple-in-your-mouth events in NYC & LA from Nov ‘20 thru Feb ‘21. Sold tickets & made money. Had an absurdly awesome time bringing people together for food & fun while hosting in a pineapple onesie. Then the pandemic hit. 🍍Transformed that ridiculous community spirit into a remote-first, Covid-safe experience by building Pineapple app to facilitate human connection to get folks face-to-face seeing & hearing each other as real people in small groups. Built & released the Pineapple web app throughout ‘21. Finished iOS prototype by end of Dec ‘21. Raised angel funding in Jan ‘22. 🍍Released Pineapple for iOS in the App Store on June 27, ‘22, Int’l Pineapple Day #2. Got 1mm views on Instagram in Summer ‘22 wearing a pineapple onesie & doing street interviews in NYC emulating the in-app experience, forging a user funnel into Pineapple. Just as resources ran out & team fell apart. Jared burned out for the 6th time building PAF. In Nov ‘22, took a step back to introspect & re-evaluate. So many learnings. Transformed again. 🍍In Jan ‘23, with the pandemic lifting, returned to Pineapple AF’s roots with new focus & direction: in-person mental health community events as a paid business & organic user-acquisition strategy for Pineapple app. In Apr ‘23, launched a pilot series of facilitated peer-support groups for New Yorkers with Complex PTSD called Big Pineapple: community, creativity, & mutual support. Ran 20+ events in ‘23 for 200+ attendees and closed out the year with the profitable, uplifting hit, Inner Child Art Nyte. 🍍

Built an original game prototype as a web app for consideration by major national newspapers.To develop the prototype, Jared contributed to, communicated & collaborated with, & supported the Neuhaus Ideas team through multiple iterations of game ideation, design, product requirements & specifications, technical architecture, software engineering, deployment, review & feedback, and handoff.

Hired at the Series B raise and there till Series D, Jared co-engineered the open-source, enterprise web app, Chronograf, which became the built-in GUI of InfluxDB 2.0+. Chronograf is the modern, beautiful, powerful graphical user interface for InfluxData's time series database & DevOps/Observability platform. It enables users to visualize, monitor, & manage global-scale systems by handling metrics, events, logs, & alerts in real-time.Built to integrate tightly with InfluxData's full product offering, Chronograf gives users a single pane of insight and management to accumulate, analyze, and act on critical infrastructure, deployments, systems, and business data captured from server farms, wind and solar energy farms, software systems, particle physics experiments, and more at nanosecond precision at global scale.Jared helped bring Chronograf from beta software with hundreds of users to a robust, secure, feature-rich, cutting-edge, enterprise-grade data visualization, alerting, and database management application with tens of thousands of users. He also helped grow the team, which doubled in his time there, and mentor new hires.Among his many engineering contributions to this open-source project, Jared spearheaded and delivered on a months-long project to endow Chronograf with role-based access control, users, teams, private instances, and other security features focused on the application's client and server. At Tagasauris during seed stage, Jared engineered data pipelines, application prototypes, and internal tools in service of creating novel end-user video experiences – like video segment discovery, automated video editing, and hypervideo – powered by Machine Learning applied to video & photo. Technologies used were primarily React/Redux, Node/Express, React Native, Firebase, and AWS Mechanical Turk.On the application side, he built the Clippy video discovery web app – in React/Redux on the client-side and in Express/Node on the server-side – that queried ML-predicted, parsed video fragments and created a custom video player that allowed users to navigate a video timeline by selecting those fragments.For the Clippy backend, he engineered multiple data pipeline tools in Node to capture user-generated annotation data collected via Amazon Mechanical Turk on thousands of automotive images and to make it available for machine learning. He developed these tools in Node, Firebase, and AWS to manage and modify the AMT jobs, and then process and store task (HIT) data. These included: a SPA-thwarting image scraper for custom targets, and Microsoft and Google Images, using PhantomJS and PhridgeJS; an image stream processor to multiplex images for resizing and to upload to AWS; a datastore for metadata and annotations in Firebase; and a Node tool to ETL the data as a CSV for machine learning and business intelligence.For Amazon Mechanical Turk, he led development of a service-oriented architecture message queue to automate image-scraping and task-generation. For the task UI, he coded and deployed two views to allow users to collect image verification and bounding box annotations via AMT. He also developed an analytics page for AMT tasks to see live metadata & to average bounding boxes across annotations.He developed multiple product demos using other technologies as well, including a React Native app to play web video and a FramerJS Tinder-for-video prototype.

As founder of Cecelia Webber Art, Jared led and managed production, publication, licensing, and sales of the breathtaking, breakthrough "Human Nature" series of fine art by now-internationally recognized artist, Cecelia Webber. The Human Nature series went viral worldwide after Jared recognized the talent and championed it, put it online, and handled the flurry of inquiries.Jared cultivated and maintained relationships with hundreds of international clients, publishers, producers, and vendors, including to sell through Barneys New York, publish in the Huffington Post, advertise for Harrison and Star, produce through the acclaimed PhotoSynthèse in Montréal, and exhibit at the Museo Civico (Natural History Museum) of Verona, Italy.

Jared directed, co-produced, co-shot, edited, and distributed the 68-min documentary film and crowd-pleaser, The Mayor. Crafted from 200+ hours of footage, The Mayor reveals a slice of life and character study of a handful of 90-year-olds living life to the fullest in a retirement community in Texas, from new romance, longstanding relationships and loss, to everyday acts of community and humanity. He also created a series of short films called Old Stories to build out the film world and promote the film.The Mayor played 9 film festivals internationally, including the Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival (DocAviv), Documentary Edge, and the 25th annual Dallas VideoFest, where The Mayor had its hometown debut at the Dallas Museum of Art. The documentary was distinguished as the official film selection of the Gerontological Society of America's annual Scientific Meeting. The film was licensed for broadcast on TV in Israel and New Zealand and distributed online on iTunes and Amazon.On the business side, Jared founded and ran Life's Waltz Productions LLC to produce and sell the film. He managed the marketing funnel and sales pipeline via Zoho CRM, onboarded 2 SDRs to help with sales, and licensed the film for screening exhibitions at retirement communities, religious communities, regional film series, and universities across the country. In producing the film, Jared negotiated an agreement with the USA's largest Senior Services Provider to film the documentary at one of their communities in Texas.As a director and documentarian, Jared created and held space for vulnerability and led 100+ hours of personal interviews with over 30 seniors aged 60-105.
