I assisted California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) with their 2013 transition into California State Parks; they had previously been a stand-alone department. Most of my duties included coordinating administrative functions between the department and new division, including: procurement, human resources, budgeting, accounting, contracts, fleet and facility, etc. In addition, I coordinated the U.S. Coast Guard's Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) Grant for three cycles resulting in over $15,000,000 in total grant awards from the USCG to California. I also represented DBW as a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail's project management team and assisted in initial concept development for a Delta Water Trail.DBW:~$55,000,000 Annual Budget 3 Core Program Areas: Boating Enforcement & Safety, Loans & Grants, and Environmental 2 Facilities 45 staff 25+ fleetPeople make the organization!

Administer a 3-year, $615,000 contract with the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA) to provide statewide off-highway vehicle (OHV) safety and ethics training to the public. Duties include a combination of the following: contract development, evaluation and implementation of reporting procedures, auditing invoices and training courses, coordinating with State Vehicular Recreation Areas to ensure training program compliance, and developing procedures and policies to maintain program integrity. Administer a 5-year, $250,000 contract with California State University Sacramento’s Recreation Department to conduct a comprehensive study of the trailheads and SNO-PARKs associated with the State’s Over-Snow Vehicle Program. Duties include: recruiting field staff, coordinating a sampling schedule, working with researchers to develop survey instruments and methodologies, working with managers to analyze the data to provide management direction, data entry, and coordinating with outside agencies to obtain sensitive information. Integral member of an interdisciplinary visitor services team to produce outreach components, including: tradeshow exhibits, interpretive displays, multi-media presentations, messaging collateral, event calendars, outreach and marketing plans, as well as other trainings and presentations for staff in the field. Manage the social media program; duties include strategic planning, data analysis, content development, attending training, providing guidance to field staff, coordinating with the Communications Office to ensure policy compliance and program collaboration.
