Project ManagerTampere University 2015 - 2019Tampere, FinlandI was working in project "Printed, energy Autonomous UniversaL platform for multifunctional wireless sensors and devices (PAUL)" in the Laboratory for Future Electronics at TUT. In the project the following topics for Internet of Things applications were developed: - Energy autonomy including harvesting and storage- Flexible high-speed, energy thrifty devices- Circuits and energy efficient wireless communication -
Senior ScientistVtt Technical Research Centre Of Finland 1998 - 2014TampereMy research/development topics included:2014: Bio-based supercapacitor materials, thermal energy storage, polymer materials for lighting2012-14: Printed supercapacitors2010-13: Polymer supercapacitors,”Salt and paper battery”2011-13: Energy storage on silicon chip2007-12: Printed enzymatic power source combined with supercapacitor2008-11: Composite anode for lithium-ion battery2007-09: Thermal energy storage in phase change materials2005-07: Supercapacitor development2004-06: Fuel cell catalysts2002-04: Thermal management materials in electronics2002-03: Nanostructured ceramic coatings2000-02: Nanostructured catalysts and materials for hydrogen storage1998-2000: Intermetallic materials, metal ceramic composites, powder processingI worked in various research/development projects, in many cases as project manager. The tasks included a wide variety of materials development and applications requiring multidisciplinary skills. The project partners were industrial companies and research institutes. E.g. in the case of supercapacitor development we cooperated with several VTT units, Åbo Akademi, Aalto University, Uppsala University and over 10 companies. The work with supercapacitors was a part of larger entity of printed intelligence development. The ceramic and metallic materials I was working with are applied when wear, corrosion and impact resistance are essential. I also developed functional filler materials for polymer composites. During the latest years the structural materials development at VTT has been done by other people but I still had close cooperation with them regarding manufacturing methods, characterization and applications. My characterization method experience includes e.g. electric and electrochemical measurements, thermal analysis such as thermal conductivity and thermogravimetry as well as microstructure definition with x-ray diffractometry.
