    Career Transition
    Career Break Sep 2018 - Jul 2022
While I exhibited full control of F. Riley Construction and was personally responsible for the financial health of the firm as Treasurer, my father was President and retained 100% ownership of the firm. In April 2016, my father called in sick one Friday and passed away the following Friday. When he passed, he died in testate (no will) and as a result my siblings and I were required to enter probate court to properly dispose & transfer all assets and settle all outstanding liabilities under my father’s name. I became executor of my father’s estate.I had the opportunity to purchase the construction firm back from the Estate and continue the firm’s operation, I ultimately decided that it was not in my wife and I’s best interest. Upon this decision, I spent the next 1.5 years completing all outstanding projects due to the remaining projects being collateralized with payment and performance bonds. Once the projects were completed, I began and completed the process of selling the Firm’s assets and closing out any liabilities that may have been associated with previous equipment financing or other outstanding liabilities. The Firm was officially dissolved with the IRS and Mass. Sec. of State in Sept. 2018.In addition to dissolving the construction firm, I was also responsible for selling multiple properties, one of which was categorized as a Mass. Tier II Environmental Site.Requiring a fresh start and faced with the high cost of living in the northeast, my wife and I moved to Carmel, IN. My wife knew of Carmel because she graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis. Shortly after our move, we had our first daughter which was followed by COVID. Knowing very little of COVID, we decided that I would remain as a full-time parent. Although at home, I achieved the following:- MBA- PMP Certification- LSS Green Belt Cert.I've never really stopped working but it's nearly impossible to have this transition on a resume.
