As an Equestrian Center Coordinator, I was responsible for managing health care protocols for a herd of 75 horses and assisting in evaluating 12 lesson horses for Rec programming. Additionally, I handled the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, and supervision of a team consisting of 16 barn supervisors and 11 instructors. Part of my role included providing valuable student development opportunities in veterinary skills, horse husbandry, first aid, and professional growth.With a strong focus on enhancing customer service and fostering a welcoming environment, I made changes to the facility, program, services and communication, that aligned with feedback received from student staff, boarders and the Equestrian Center Advisory Council.Utilizing Fusion, I efficiently managed program listings and facilitated lesson registration for our Rec Riding and Guardian Angel program. Collaborating closely with Equestrian Sport Clubs and the ICA Equestrian Team, I ensured program support and adherence to facility rules and standards.Moreover, I took proactive measures to create training manuals and enhance staff training protocols, prioritizing safety and understanding of material taught. I also created new supervised training procedures for equipment operation, including the Tractors, Gator, and Kubota.I was responsible for updating safety protocols and standard operating procedures to meet IACUC and AAALAC accreditation standards. This included maintaining detailed records for staff, horses, volunteers, and participants, ensuring compliance and accountability.

I served as the Student Resident and Head Barn Supervisor at the UC Davis Equestrian Center. As a Barn Supervisor, my responsibilities included feeding horses, grooming, administering first aid, medication, and applying leg wraps when needed. As the Head Barn Supervisor, I took on additional duties such as vaccinating, deworming, and maintaining herd health records. I was also responsible for creating schedules and training new student staff.I also instructed our Guardian Angels and Hooves for Heroes (veterans) program, where I taught students and community members about horse care, behavior, and safety, preparing them to volunteer and care for the horses at our facility.I was awarded Outstanding Employee of the Quarter, Equestrian Center's Golden Award (top graduating senior) and nominated for the Department of Campus Recreation Student Staff Spotlight during my time as Head Barn Supervisor.

While working in the Mammalian Ecology and Conservation Unit (MECU), my role involved assisting with DNA extractions from carnivore samples collected in Yosemite National Park, as well as from the endangered Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse.

My job involved monitoring and performing daily treatments for both client and CEH horses, including administering first aid, bandages, wraps, and medications (PO, IVC, SPL, IM). I assisted veterinarians and technicians during treatments and procedures, and handled and restrained various horses, including foals, pregnant mares, stallions, and draft horses. As part of the night shift staff, I was responsible for completing overnight treatments and caring for lay-up horses, as well as assisting with the intake of new imported horse arrivals.

My responsibilities as a B-Barn nurse and student tech involved monitoring and conducting treatments for all patients in B-Barn. This included administering first aid, bandages, wraps, and medications (PO, IVC, SPL, IM). I assisted veterinarians and technicians during treatments and procedures, prepared exam rooms and supplies for colic emergencies, and prepared various medications for treatment. Additionally, I handled and restrained a wide variety of horses, including foals, stallions, and draft horses.

I had the opportunity to assist Dr. Depeters in teaching his animal nutrition students how to work with horses, sheep, and rabbits on a digestion study. My role included preparing lab materials by drying and grinding feed and fecal samples, feeding the animals, cleaning their pens, and closely monitoring them for potential health issues. This hands-on experience was crucial in ensuring the study's success and provided support to both Dr. Depeters and his students.

I was an intern that assisted a team of technicians and vets to help prepare for surgeries and monitor patients. I would view surgeries and handle and restrain animals as needed for different procedures. I would also assist B-barn nurses and vet students to perform clinical duties such as administering medicines PO, IM, SQ or IVC and bandaging injuries.

I digitalized breeding records and reviewed them to create breeding groups that would improve the quality of the herd. I would then CIDR ewes in order to synchronize them for breeding. I would also vaccinate, deworm, shear wool and trim hooves.

As a dairy production intern, I would move the herd and individual cows to squeeze chute for check-ups. During check-ups, I would take TPR, check for mastitis, dip teats, and take small milk samples for testing. I would also assist in monitoring the herd for signs of distress, illness, and estrus.

I was an Agriculture Ambassador for the Agriculture Department at Mt.SAC. The goal of the Ag Ambassador program is to educate the community about the importance of agriculture and promote our agriculture program and school farm. I would participate in college and high school workshops to encourage students to enroll into the Mt.SAC agriculture program as well as host animal lab demos to teach new students how to safely work with livestock. I led tours of our farm and agriculture facilities as well as participate in department and board meetings as a student representative. I also worked with the E.A.G.L.E club to promote sustainable practices at the school farm. I was awarded the Herman Weskamp Memorial and Ag Ambassador Award in recognition of my devoted contribution to the success of the agriculture industry.

I was cross-trained to work as a veterinary assistant, kennel attendant, and receptionist so that I could jump in and assist wherever I was needed especially on busy days. I assisted in handling and restraint, radiographs, monitoring vital signs during surgery, administering medications and vaccines. I would prep the surgery room and animals for surgery, prep surgical packs, and autoclave surgical equipment. I would also draw, store and run in house tests on blood and urine. When needed I would answer phones, translate (English/Spanish) make appointments and keep records and inventory.

Daily activities would include feeding, bathing, and caring for all the horses in the Equine Unit's breeding program. I would assist in handling and restraining for vet checks. During the breeding season, I would assist the vet during reproductive soundness exams. I would also handle foals during vet checks and hold the teaser mare during stallion collection.

I would set up lab media, create culture plates and clean lab equipment for the microbiology classes. I would also create and maintain stock cultures and restock lab supplies.

I would feed, bathe, and care for all the animals on the farm which includes horses, beef cattle, show heifers, sheep and swine. I would help administer vaccines, medications, and dewormers and assist in handling and restraining for vet checks.
