His special interest is mobile technology where he has participated in various European Union research framework projects. His team was first in Europe to develop a smartphone patient record and image terminal for physicians already in year 2000. He has published about telemedicine, teleradiology, mobile communication and patient record systems and he is a frequent speaker at international forums. Currently, at FinnTelemedicum, he and his collaborators have published the results of a comprehensive national survey following 8 years of medical ICT dissemination and utilization in Finnish health care.
