I have had a varied career since graduating as a Town & Country Planner in 1991. I worked in theatre management at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall before becoming House Manager at Warwick Arts Centre, University of Warwick. After a period of time I decided I wanted a change and moved into social housing. After working for a Midlands based housing association - Touchstone HA - I returned to Scotland. After briefly spell working for Inverclyde Council as a Tenant Participation Officer I moved to Scottish Refugee Council where, 6 years on I still work.From housing advice to advocacy and training to public speaking I enjoy my work especially as it is client focused. I enjoy learning and am lucky to be in a profession that does not stand still.In the future I would like to use more of my creative skills possibly to set up my own craft business (on a part time basis) and move to a more rural part of Scotland. However I do want to continue supporting others and empowering them.Specialties: I am a union rep and am used to negoitating with senior management on all matters relating to staffing including redundancy.My current job has allowed me to specialise in Scottish housing law while I also have expert knowledge of social work, immigration and benefit law.I am also an experienced public speaker providing training and information talks.
