Jaron Browne is a Communications Organizer with Grassroots Global Justice (GGJ)--a movement-building alliance that brings together US grassroots organizations to influence the most critical global issues of our time. We believe transformation lies in the hands of poor and working class people who struggle for change every day around the world. As Communications Organizer, Jaron supports GGJ's holistic approach to building global justice: No War, No Warming, Build an Economy for the People and the Planet, echoing the framework of Dr. Martin Luther King’s philosophy of the Triple Evils of Poverty, Racism and Militarism. We weave and bridge together US-based grassroots organizing groups and global social movements working for climate justice, an end to war, and a just transition to a new economy that is better for people and the planet.Before joining GGJ, Jaron was an organizer with POWER and Causa Justa::Just Cause for nearly 13 years, building the power of working class Black and Latino families in the Bay Area. As an organizer, Jaron helped to build POWER’s welfare worker organizing, Bayview Organizing Project, and the Black Priorities Project. Jaron co-authored POWER’s Towards Land, Work, and Power political economy primer for organizers, as well as coordinating a number of other publications and communications campaigns. Jaron was trained as an organizer with the Bus Riders Union in Los Angeles at the Labor/Community Strategy Center in 2001. Jaron has also been active in the movement to end mass incarceration, as well as LGBT social movements in the US.
