Integrated the Curbside platform with the Rakuten ecosystem in the US and Japan, empowering retailers and restaurants to deliver rewarding online-to-offline experiences to their customers.

SaaS platform for Mobile Commerce specializing in predictive arrival technology. Curbside introduced speed and convenience for mobile order-ahead and curbside pickup at tens of thousands of brick-and-mortar stores. Acquired by Rakuten in 2018. Curbside technology has supported mobile ordering at many of the leading US retailers including Kroger, CVS, Target, Sephora, Nordstrom, TrueValue, Pizza Hut and Chipotle. Our very supportive group of investors included Index Ventures, Sutter Hill Ventures and AME Cloud Ventures.

Developed location-based services infrastructure across the Apple ecosystem including Maps, CoreLocation and MapKit on iOS & OS X as well as Photos, iAd and iLife. Led numerous development teams with responsibilities including user positioning, geocoding, routing, map data ingest/ETL/derivation, conflation, local search, traffic, vector map tiles, satellite / aerial imagery, harvest/log aggregation, analytics, data licensing and devops.Pioneered efforts in several areas including aerial imagery classification, large scale collection and distributed hosting / serving of extremely large scale geodata for hundreds of millions of iOS devices, augmented reality and more.

Placebase developed a leading SaaS location based services platform for web and mobile applications called Pushpin. Apple acquired the company in 2009.

Co-founded this non-profit engaged in democratization of community data and local information.
