Sports has been something I have been exposed to since birth. I was raised in a very competitive family who follow sports very closely. Most of my youth summers, I spent weekend after weekend at various high level baseball tournaments in the region. However in 8th grade, I decided to try tennis and picked it up a lot faster than the others around me. I had a natural talent for it and was able to receive an offer from Barton Community College to play there. On top of playing sports, I follow all my favorite teams and players very closely and passionately. It's almost as though I was raised to go into the sports management field. I have worked in and around sports for every job that I have attained. I started by working in an indoor multi sport facility with basketball, volleyball (court & sand), baseball, softball, and indoor soccer along with a trampoline park in the front of the facility. I exposed myself to some good experience on the facility management side as I got to see first hand some smart tactics as well as some questionable management styles. Once I graduated high school and went off to my first college (Barton Community College) I took a position as a student assistant to the sports information director in the athletic department there. It was here where I really started to grasp the concept of game-day operations.When I transferred from Barton over to the University of Kansas, I quickly attained a position at the on-campus rec center. Here I got more exposure to facilities operation and management. Shortly after hiring on there, I also attained a position at Jayhawk Tennis Center out at Rock Chalk Park. When I hired on, my only role was to work the front desk which primarily checks guests in and enrolls them in our variety of classes as well as perform racquet stringing services. I have now started to help coach some of the classes we provide there and even run one of the classes. I have also recently begun doing private lessons for a few of our patrons. This has been my most committed job by far and it has really taught me the essentialness of time management and good business practices.
