I run regular reading groups on theology, philosophy, literature, and culture in person at Hampden-Sydney College and online. I also bring in lecturers to campus a few times a semester and spend a lot of one-on-one times with students. You can find out more about what we do at www.cogito-hsc.org.

I taught both semesters of Candler's Introduction to Biblical Greek course, introducing students to the basics of ancient Greek syntax and grammar.

Immediately after college and in between my master's and my PhD program, I worked as a research assistant for David L. Holmes, Walter G. Mason Professor of Religious Studies, Emeritus, at the College of William and Mary. Specifically, I conducted secondary research for Faiths of the Postwar Presidents: from Truman to Obama (2012), Professor Holmes’s latest book on presidential religion, also editing each book chapter for style and confirming facts and citations. In addition, I assisted Professor Holmes on several other, smaller projects, researching the history of the composition of the Jefferson Bible and on its place in the context of historical Jesus research, gathering information on William and Mary's sports history, and editing and collecting material for various articles and lectures on American presidential religion.

While enrolled in the Raleigh Fellows Program, I worked as an intern in both the upper and lower schools of Trinity Academy of Raleigh, a classical Christian school. In the upper school, I assisted in teaching a senior course on comparative religion designed to introduce students to the basics of modern world faiths. I also helped high school seniors with college applications, observed upper school teachers in the classroom weekly to learn methods of teaching and classroom control, and substituted for absent teachers. In the lower school, I graded work and supervised students daily, provided individual mentoring and tutoring on a weekly basis for a student after school, and started a weekly chess club that introduced students to the game of chess as well as to some basic strategies and techniques. In addition, I worked with Trinity's administration to help implement a student information database that enabled easy generation of mailing lists, tracking of student application statuses, and identification of trends in student recruitment.

From the Raleigh Fellows website: the Raleigh Fellows Program is a nine-month (September-May) Christian leadership development and training program for recent college graduates. Young men and women come together to engage in a program designed to foster a God-centered view of knowledge, culture, work, and life. Fellows receive theological training, participate in seminars with theological and community leaders, and enjoy one-on-one mentoring relationships with mature Christian men and women. Fellows apply their training as they minister in the marketplace through an individualized internship and in the church through youth ministry.
