Senior Release Engineer
Austin, Texas, Us
Accomplishments:- Responsible for interviewing and onboarding Software Engineers and Release Engineers for on-site and off-site locations for the Release Team.- Took over completely manual deployments from MyTesla, Tesla Scheduling System, Tesla Energy, Tesla Ecommerce, Customer Refund Request, and Payment Gateway development teams, then designed and implemented automated build, deployment, and configuration processes for 30 web services, 2 command-line applications, and 5 databases to 9 non-production environments, cutting build-and-deploy turnaround times by 90+%. These processes used C# command-line tools and Powershell scripts run by a Jenkins instance hosted on Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.- Designed, developed, and automated the "Release List" process in C# to highlight all changes in a production release for the MyTesla development team. This was based on what JIRA tickets were found in changesets checked into TFS by the development team. This aided the development and QA leads to make decisions on what needed to be included or excluded from potential releases, while also highlighting tickets that may have been missed during testing.- Took over release procedures to production environments for MyTesla, Tesla Scheduling System, Tesla Energy, Tesla Ecommerce, and Payment Gateway development teams, ensuring applications passed SOX compliance from application release standpoint.- Worked with Development, QA, and Systems Administration teams to roll out 6 new N-tier non-production environments, which were configured using Puppet and Jenkins. Took steps to reduce the time needed for deployment and configuration of the MyTesla application stack on a new environment from 3 weeks to 1 day.- Performed quarterly auditing of SOX-Compliant applications.- Automated pre-release and post-release process for the Tesla Scheduling System and MyTesla Systems. Also fully automated Tesla Scheduling System production releases.
