Developing a career within the medical field is an adventure that may take a while to get to where you want to be, however achieving it and ending up being able to help others and those around will be more than enough to make the journey worthwhile. Within my first year of college over that summer I was able to start my path of building my career in the medical field by obtaining my phlebotomy license that would enable me to start building the skills needed to work in a medical position. Drawing blood while it may seem simple, has developed me into a more compassionate person to help others. Constantly learning on the job at a plasma center, you need to be quick on your feet as if someone has an issue with a 17 gauge needle in their arm one needs to be able to keep them calm. Interacting with people is always an interesting experience and day to day makes the job worthwhile. Between my license and working as a phlebotomist it has enabled me to keep developing the medical skills and become more proficient with needles and overall more accurate as venipunctures should be as quick and painless as possible which is how we want all medical procedures to be.
