Upon achieving my full qualification as a Maritime Warfare Officer, I spent two years in HMAS Stuart as the Assistant Operations Officer. During this time, working directly with the Senior Operations Officer enabled me to quickly build experience with regard to managing complex scenarios in a large organisation. During my early career I was generally responsible for managing a team of 15-20 sailors, serial planning, performance reporting, training needs management, task force management, de-confliction with RAN and international assets, risk analysis, operations planning and WHS management.
