My career experience and skills have all grown from my ability to solve complex problems. Starting at UCSD, my degree in Physics taught me the value of breaking up complex problems into smaller problems. Each problem is broken up into smaller and smaller problems until you are left with a bunch of simple tasks instead of something so complex it seems impossible. Through a combination of management, technical and accounting skills, I have built up a skill base that I believe can handle ANY business problem.My career began in the consulting arena. Working for Andersen for ten years gave me a very broad and deep set of technical and management skills. I started as a technical resource and eventually was managing multi-million dollar projects, none of which was ever over budget or late. Even while building up my management skills, I always placed a very high value on my technical skills. As a result, I have never let my technical skill base deteriorate over time. I believe the resource that understands the underlying technology has a great advantage in managing resources as compared to a non-technical manager. Following Andersen, I started my own company that offered application development and system integration services. That was over a decade ago.What can I do for you? Well, over my career I have always been referred to as the guy that could do anything. My deep understanding of GAAP, application development and management give me a very unique viewpoint. It allows me to see where we need to end our journey, the various stops along the way and the skill to know what it will take. My career has always been one where I have to follow someone who has failed. The failure rate in this industry is way too high. I truly believe that if managers had better technical knowledge, this would not be the case. The latest failure I followed was Xerox. It doesn’t matter how big your company is if you don’t have the skills to complete the job. I have those skills!
