Hi, I'm Jarrod Smith, the Director of Girri Birrang, which stands for "Red Horizon" in the Wiradjuri language. Our name symbolises a commitment to progress and building a better future, a philosophy I've embraced in my 15+ years in the utility construction industry. My journey has always been about more than overseeing projects – it’s about inspiring change and making a positive impact on communities. Throughout my career, I have managed and contributed to significant projects such as the Oran Park Sewer Pump Station and the Powells Creek Bank Renewal and Naturalisation. These experiences have not only refined my project management and leadership skills but also reinforced my commitment to community engagement and safety excellence. At Girri Birrang, our ethos, "Bridging Horizons, Building Futures," resonates deeply with my professional journey. I take pride in our logo's symbolism. The circular horizon symbolises unity, and the three rivers honour the Wiradjuri people. This echoes my commitment to nurturing growth in Indigenous communities. I am particularly excited about our upcoming initiatives in Lake Cargelligo and our collaboration with TAFE, offering construction courses to Indigenous young adults. These ventures are close to my heart, as they are about creating new pathways and empowering future generations.
