Uniquip was a London-based startup company which provided living essentials to new university students.As one of three co-founders, I was involved in creating the business model and helped to get the business up and running. I was responsible for developing almost every aspect of the business, including conducting initial market research, establishing relationships and pitching to societies at universities for partnerships, product design, pricing strategy, supply chain management and various other operations. Specifically, I took charge of building an eCommerce platform and tailored a customer interface to the needs of the business. This required a working knowledge of HTML, CSS and some Javascript. I also managed the Marketing of the business, and took charge of all promotion and placement in addition to managing the website and our various social media channels.

As a PR intern, I supported corporate communications campaigns, and worked across clients in equities investment, insurance, agribusiness, financial services, and professional services sectors.I conducted research for agribusinesses and private equity clients, and assembled a tracker of global institutions interested in collaboration, leading to the successful organisation of the Olam Scholarship Programme. I generated engaging social media content for clients, increasing their following on a number of social media platforms.

As an intern in the Luxury Lifestyle team, I worked across a number of luxury/travel clients including; The Lanesborough, London Marriott Hotel Park Lane, Beverly Hills, The Idle Rocks and the St Mawes Hotel in Cornwall, and Cannes Yachting Festival 2015. I documented clients’ coverage in the form of reports, prepared client facing materials such as company credentials and briefing documents to showcase the agency to potential new business. I also monitored the media for clients and documented coverage across international media, thereby securing coverage in over 50 top-tier media outlets and surpassing campaign objectives. I also helped to assemble the press kit for Cannes Yachting Festival 2015, the main promotional and informative document to some 50,000 visitors to the event.I regularly supported the Property team in translating coverage from Chinese to English, to give clients an insight into their presence in foreign media.

As a PR intern, I assisted in writing and distributing pitch letters, news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, bios, newsletters, reports and other communications material. I also created and maintained media lists, handled routine media inquiries, monitored media to report coverage that affected the client’s business, and developed relationships with the media to convey the client’s message whilst proactively identifying media opportunities for clients.A highlight of my internship was my involvement in helping to organise the Global Green Economic Forum in 2014, where I successfully invited key media titles, including BBC Newsday and Channel NewsAsia, to cover the event.

As part of my National Service stint, I served as an Air Warfare Officer (Ground-based Air Defence) Officer at Republic of Singapore Airforce's 163 Squadron, as a Fire Control Officer. My rank upon discharge was Lieutenant, and my performance and conduct assessment was 'Outstanding'.During my time at 163 SQN, I helped to ensure the security of Singapore's airspace through 24/7 Ground-Based Air Defence operations. I was responsible for the welfare and training of my men, and I was also in charge of producing the commemorative video for the Squadron's 30th anniversary, during which I interviewed many high-ranking officers and significant characters.
