Experis Associate - Hardware Compatibility Tester @ Microsoft

Redmond, Washington, United States

(Project Contract, Fulltime)From September 16th, 2020 to April 27th, 2021.I was an associate of Experis working at Microsoft as a Hardware Compatibility Tester. My job was to test game software builds against various PC hardware configurations.Individuals working within the Lab were responsible for testing on numerous projects every month on dozens of hardware configurations; PC and Xbox systems were the main focus. Test cases were written by individuals on a per-project basis, with oversight from a Team Lead to check their test case writing work. I’ve written many test cases under this supervision. Many times, it was required that we test on multiple configurations at once; effective multitasking was essential. Previously recorded bugs and issues were tested against new game builds, and cross-referenced with client (dev team) databases. If new issues/bugs appeared within a build, bug reports were updated, or created, as needed. While working as a team, we communicated effectively throughout the day in real time, compared notes and test results in our investigations, and met project goals together. Not only were we responsible for our own work, but the progress and data accuracy of our teammate’s work. All the while, we adapted accordingly when project parameters changed, and met new or established goals by the deadline set by our clients, or Microsoft.Teams working from home were given the responsibility of maintaining the security of sensitive data, and lab equipment outside of the lab on a daily basis. During my time at Shield Lab, I became a part of the team that worked from home, giving me extensive experience in this area.
