Established Rasoi [kitchen], a very successful restaurant seating 44 and offering Indian-inspired cuisine in historic Marda Loop. The restaurant:• achieved profitability within first year. This was followed by four more successful years and the restaurant’s sale for a positive return-on-investment;• was recognized with the 2008 “Best New Restaurant” award from noted food critic John Gilchrist;• received a significant remodelling after a flood forced the restaurant’s closure for four weeks. Following an aggressive social marketing campaign, the month following Rasoi’s re-opening was its biggest ever.

Led, and continue to be active in, this organization promoting Marda Loop and its businesses. Activities and accomplishments include:• serving as a media liaison and spokesperson;• creating a more effective advertising pamphlet to be featured in various tourist locations across the city;• playing an active role in organizing the Marda Loop Street Festival (2008 to present); • working with the local residential community on projects such as crime prevention issues, graffiti abatement and streetscape enhancement.
