About Jaz Rivera ๐Ÿ‘พ Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst

"There is zero chance you'll get anywhere if you allow yourself to become paralyzed by soft excuses and countless reasons why you never get where you want to be." - Tim S. Grover "Relentless"At 18, I joined the Air Force as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst (1N0). Although I was soft-spoken and timid, I wanted to challenge myself with a career that forced me to work on my public speaking skills.I started my career in Japan where I supported the 18th Operations Support Squadron by studying enemy aircraft, surface to air missiles and naval assets. I briefed three topics daily and provided a well-thought out assessment and enemy courses of action with only three hours of preparation.I was later assigned to the 31st Rescue Squadron to support the Pararescue (PJ) team for the Guardian Angel mission. Without any prior knowledge of the rescue mission, it was an awesome opportunity to hone in on my critical thinking and briefing skills. I used my knowledge of enemy doctrine and capability to create realistic scenarios for the PJs to train to in order to meet their required training objectives. I soon deployed with the team to Bagram AB, Afghanistan where I led the Tactical Operations Center (TOC). While deployed, my only job was to absorb as much information as possible in order to quickly brief the relevant information to the team so they can support any mission within minutes of notification. While solely relying on my knowledge and confidence in my assessment-making skills, I ensured the most timely and relevant information was provided to my team at all times. After that deployment, I arrived to San Antonio, TX where I was a Cyber Protection Analyst for the National Cyber Protection Teams. As a 1N0 without any prior cyber experience, I used that role as yet another opportunity to learn and challenge myself. I asked questions, learned and failed often. I documented my lessons-learned and single-handedly developed & instructed the first ever N-CPT intelligence training program across three AFSCs to better support the threat hunting capability. I spent the majority of my career in this role because I enjoyed the daily challenge of learning about threat hunting and nation-state capabilities.I was the first (and only) analyst to provide 100% accurate intelligence assessments to my cyber team at the Red Flag 19-1 exercise. I have been coined by Gen. Nakasone (Director of NSA) and many others for my efforts in Hunt Forward Operations.I am confident that I will provide great value to any organization that is willing to have this blue-haired vet!
