About Jasmia Small-Jarrett
When I was in 5th grade, my teacher gave us an assignment to pick a partner and write a short essay on a topic of our choice. I partnered with my best friend and suggested we write about at-risk adolescents. Barely an adolescent, I didn't even know where my interest in adolescents came from at that time. Later on, I would learn that God was developing my heart to see and serve those like the at-risk adolescents-- the hurting, misunderstood, and vulnerable. My commitment to serving at-risk, vulnerable, and disenfranchised populations is both a spiritual and social responsibility. I am grateful that I have been able to do my part by serving as a Girls on the Run coach, an intern Resident Instructor for at-risk adolescent girls, and a job and life skills coach for individuals living with mental health diagnoses. The Girls on the Run program itself taught me to endure through any journey, and working with the girls taught me how to manage a group while being attentive to each individual's needs. Serving as an intern Resident Instructor taught me, firsthand, the importance of addressing health holistically and the value in great team communication. Lastly, teaching job and life skills as a Clubhouse Rehabilitative Associate has taught me the key to the wellness of our "clients" are continued job training, cultural sensitivity, and staff wellness. I hope to apply all I've learned from each of these experiences to serve the community where I am planted.
Listed skills include Public Speaking, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Microsoft Office, and 27 others.
