Leading HS2’s major infrastructure procurements in support of the delivery of HS2 scope. Core responsibility is the strategic management of procurement packages that range from £400m-£2.5 billion. Responsible for the procurement of multiple construction disciplines including Civil engineering, tunnels, depots and stabling, logistics and enabling works. Ensuring HS2’s procurement activities are undertaken in compliance with EU and UK legislation whilst driving a process that will become a benchmark for future projects around the world. Innovation, value for money and legacy are key strategic themes within the project delivery strategy that I am required to implement and embed within the process and contracts that will form the foundation of the successful delivery of the project. Managing major procurements from expression of interest to contract award and including responsibility for the management and development of a procurement team, ensuring their output is quality-assured at its source (and prior to being offered for approval). Responsible for the strategic management of major procurements within the Project, including the delivery of innovative and commercially robust strategies and plans for each package. Ensuring HS2 Ltd complies with statutory requirements and relevant government policies and demonstrates that its procurements are fair, transparent, non-discriminatory and deliver value for money. I present and interface with suppliers, boards and committees, internally and externally up to executive level and represent the Project in a variety of different forums.
