Independent Lives is a charity covering West Sussex and London. I oversee the banking service,which includes administering 370 customer bank accounts. Some of my roles include opening and closing accounts, paying invoices/wages and liaising with the social workers/NHS. My role is also heavily customer service based. I enjoy managing the accounts as it takes the stress away from the customers. I have improved the processes and I am always suggesting new ways to improve the way we work. All internal and external audits (ISO 9001 2015) have passed. I regularly support and deliver projects for the charity- I enjoy this aspect of the job. One of the projects was introducing direct debits into the organisation. This included attending money laundering training, creating new processes and transferring all payroll standing orders to direct debit. Another project has been working in partnership with the NHS to set up a new service. This involved meetings with the NHS, project actions/updates and creating spreadsheets. I now oversee this service, which includes paying expenses, booking travel and accommodation and preparing monthly financial reports.
