Dr. Jasmina Knežević founded Bel Medic, Serbia's first private general hospital, in 1995. As its director, she led this medical institution for 27 years, establishing it as a European-level leader and a pioneer in Serbia's private healthcare sector.In 2021, Bel Medic became part of the Turkish hospital network Acibadem, where Dr. Knežević continued as a co-owner and a member of the supervisory board of Acibadem Bel Medic for three years. She officially ended her partnership with Bel Medic Acibadem in October 2024, choosing to pursue an independent entrepreneurial career as a mentor, investor, and co-owner of several startup companies focused on digitalization and AI applications in the healthcare industry.As a pioneer in the private healthcare sector, she co-founded and serves on the Executive Board of the Association of Private Healthcare Institutions and Practices in Serbia. She is a board member of Bel Hospice, Serbia’s first specialized charity providing palliative care to adult patients with malignant diseases and children with life-limiting illnesses and conditions. She also serves on the board of the Association of Business Women in Serbia and the CFO Association of Serbia (CFOAS). Throughout her career, Dr. Knežević and Bel Medic as a company have received numerous awards and public recognitions both in Serbia and Europe. Among the most prestigious awards are “Manager of the Year” in 2020 from the Serbian Association of Managers, the “Leader of Change” award from AMCHAM in 2014, and a lifetime achievement award from the Association of Private Doctors of Serbia.Under Dr. Knežević's leadership, Bel Medic won first place for customer relations at the European Business Awards, one of the world’s largest cross-industry business competitions, competing against 32,000 companies including Deutsche Telekom, Munich Airport, Reuters, and Belgian Public Transport. This competition was held in Milan in 2018, and the European Customer Relations Award, one of the most prestigious honors a company can receive, was awarded to Serbia’s Bel Medic.It is less known that Dr. Jasmina Knežević and her husband, Milan Knežević, have long been patrons of many artistic, cultural, educational, and sports projects and events, including the Bitef Festival, Guitar Art Festival, Mathematical Gymnasium, girls' chess tournaments, and small local sports clubs. As true advocates for societal welfare and progress, Dr. Jasmina and Milan Knežević have published "Planeta" magazine for over 20 years, Serbia’s only magazine dedicated to popularizing science and research.
