My name is Jasmine Barcenas and I am from McKinney, Texas. I am a junior at Stephen F. Austin State University studying Social Work. I am a GenerationJacks Lead Counselor; I aid first-generation college students with their transition from high school to college through community support and access to resources. I have interned at Buckner International where we provided support for families in the foster care system. I also interned at the Family Crisis Center in Lufkin Texas where we advocate and empower victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. My goals after graduation would be to find a position where I can help my community members access resources and empower clients out of difficult situations.
