Supporting homeless people in a 22-bed accommodation. including young people 16+ leaving care or having to leave home due to relationship breakdowns. Families, prison leavers, street homeless and those who arent able to live in a current tenancy due to being evicted, health reasons (tenancy not suitable to meet tenants needs) and many other reasons that left clients with no suitable accommodation.The role was mainly tenancy support, such as managing finances, budgeting, benefits and teaching skills on how to sustain a tenancy. However, I also supported with practical skills such as teaching tenants how to cook, clean, employment search, education and training search and key life skills. Reporting incidents and tenant support sessions daily. Working closely with outside organisations such as GDAS, probation, housing, DWP and much more.Taking clients to appointments some include job center appointments, job interviews, training courses, doctors appointments, probation and social services meetings. Care and Support meetings.As well as the above another element of the role was to build close professional relationship with clients, gaining their trust and become a reliable support system they could come to during a tough time in their lives, being a positive role model especially for the young people in the accommodation and giving them a safe space.
