Assures that daily clinical laboratory and pathology results are printed and distributed to the appropriate areas within prescribed time frames. Follows up on all issues to ensure reports reach their designated areas. Processes Newborn Genetic Screen tests daily, computer accessioning, required paperwork, and mail. Processes requests for slides and outside consultations for pathology. Receives and sends out materials as requested and maintains records of requests. Registers specimens into the pathology computer system within prescribed time frames. Maintains office equipment and office filing system for slides and reports in accordance with departmental guidelines. Processes client supply orders. Provides telephone support for clinical laboratory and pathology services in accordance with laboratory and CPMC policies, procedures, and practices. Coordinates slides, reports, and related materials for pathologist’s participation in hospital conferences. Generates and distributes clinical laboratory daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Communicates problems encountered with specimen handling to the appropriate client. Notifies patients of the need for specimen recollection; obtains additional patient and physician information. Follows established policies, procedures, and practices including but not limited to quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards as applicable.
