“Life is a constant process of dying“A bird is safe in its nest - but that is not what its wings are made for.” Please don't go giving sweets, food, clothes or whatever to children on the street. When they see Westerns, who in comparison are stinking rich, handing out freebies it actually encourages them to beg. You see it all over the world were parents make their kids beg to tourists because that's where the big money is. Wanting to donate money or necessities to those less fortunate is absolutely commendable and a great way to give back to the countries you visit. But please give to local charity organizations who know where the money is needed and can use it appropriately. I think giving change to beggers on the street is ok, as it's seems very much a part of their culture to do so in India. But, find out what is an appropriate amount (the same as the locals) and don't give more just because are a rich tourists, which again encourages them to see begging to tourists as a job option.
