In this position my role was to support young carers 18 years and under, who are caring for a family member presenting with chronic physical illness, intellectual or physical disability, mental illness or substance use, or who are frail aged. This involved the provision of case management, counselling, age appropriate respite activities, young carer camps and school holiday program's. Facilitator for CHAMPS - 'Children who have a parent with a mental illness' 8 week psychosocial education program. Facilitated term 2 program in 2016, in partnership with local services in the Frankston LGA.Many of the young people presenting to the program in the southern region are from refugee and migrant families, requiring an understanding of settlement and CALD issues.

Eastern Metropolitan Region - Melbourne

In this position I worked alongside Youth Workers, to coordinate psychosocial assessments and provide input regarding therapeutic care needs of the young people within the Enhanced Youth Refuge. My role included the provision of short-term to medium term interventions with the aim of relieving immediate distress and trauma associated with homelessness, as well as providing support in relation to emerging mental health issues.

My role was to provide in-home support to families where one parent was under the age of 25 years. My role was to assist with the development of parenting and independent living skills, and complete ongoing risk assessment in relation to child health and welfare.I was involved in the facilitation of groups for young children 0-5 years aimed to improve attachment relationships between children and young mother's.

Provision of bio-psychosocial assessment to assist with the facilitation of discharge from surgical, general medical and maternity wards. Antenatal social work support.
