People are the center of my world. I am driven by the desire to understand the factors that affect interpersonal relationships and use that knowledge to help people build healthy relationships with themselves and others. As a queer, mixed-race, cisgender woman, I bring a feminist and multicultural perspective everywhere I go. I ultimately plan to complete a PhD program in Counseling Psychology and do clinical work and research with LGBTQ+ people of color. Previously, I worked as a mentor for pre-teens and teens, a sexual health educator, a behavior specialist for kids who have autism, and a peer counselor.

Health EducatorHealth Connected (Formerly Teen Talk) Jan 2019 - Mar 2021San Mateo County, California, United StatesHealth Connected is a Bay Area non-profit serving late elementary, middle, and high school students with comprehensive, medically-accurate, stigma-free puberty and sexual health education. In this role, I delivered age-appropriate lessons in a fun and engaging manner. In addition to teaching 'bread and butter' sex ed topics such as anatomy, birth control, and STIs, I led efforts to improve our lessons on identity, healthy relationship skills, and sexual violence prevention. I believe that when we support the entire student and prove ourselves to be non-judgmental and trustworthy adults, young people will bloom. -
Behavior SpecialistCenter For Social Dynamics Mar 2019 - Oct 2020San Mateo County, California, United StatesAs a behavior specialist, I worked with children who have autism to build pro-social behaviors and developmental skills that ranged from replacing aggressive behaviors (throwing, biting), to learning kindergarten skills (sitting at a desk, completing morning and bedtime routines without tantrums, playing age-appropriate games), to advanced middle school social skills (entering a group conversation, appropriate use of humor, making friends). I created individualized routines for each client and used them in every session to set consistent expectations, while also allowing flexibility when clients had a tough day or needed reassurance. I quickly built strong rapport with every client and their families, took notes and tracked progress after every session, and updated goals with the Clinical Director and the client's family as needed. Every session ended with a fun game and praise to let my incredible clients know how proud I was of them. -
